A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethsaida.

The Pool of Mercy.

A porch is a covered walk way bounded on one side by an exterior wall building, there, lay a great multitude of sick people who were blind, lame, paralyzed waiting for the moving of the water. Scripture tells us, an Angel stirred up the water and whoever goes in first is made well.

Jesus met a man with an infirmity for 38 years who laid by the pool. Jesus asked, do you want to be made well? His response was, I had no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but when I am coming, another step down before me. (John 5:1-15).

Our Loving, compassionate Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” He was made well.

While Jerusalem is a place of peace, there are many individuals who are not peaceful.

While Jerusalem is a place of blessing, there are many people who are not blessed.

While Jerusalem is a place of healing and deliverance, there are many people lying around in bondage.

The name of the pool is ‘Bethesda’ which translates to ‘House of Mercy’ yet some of the people there have not received mercy but rather are sick, blind, and lame.

Many Christians are in the same situation today, we are yet to possess our possessions.

We are in the place of mercy, love and deliverance but we still feel bound by our circumstances and environment.

Though the Bible assured us that those who have been set free by Jesus are free indeed, many of us are still living in blindness, hopelessness, and living a life of pity.

As Christians, we must trust Jesus who carried the cross for the sake of love. I pray that the Lord will help us not to wait around for 38 years, just like the man by the pool of Bethsaida.

Jesus is asking you and I the same question today.

Do we really want to get well?

Do we really want to get delivered from whatever situation we are in?

Jesus, our Healer, Deliverer, Savior and Redeemer is asking us the same question today because he knows that many of us have not really considered the question.

2,000 years ago, Jesus said, “It is Finished” but we still must call on Him, cry unto Him. Yes, Scripture affirm, that He has already proclaimed freedom for the prisoners, recovery of sight for the blind, freedom for the oppressed and proclaimed the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18).

“The Lord has delivered us from the power of darkness and has conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Son of His Love. Jesus Christ.” (Colossians 1:13).

“Jesus Christ has disarmed principalities and powers- He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it which is the cross.” (Colossians 2:15).

We are set free in Jesus’ name. Amen!
